Steel Door Handles, Folding Openers, DeVac clips and Wellington Handles.

Some very nice handles for Steel Doors - Smith Wallis 486/435.

Some Std Folding Openers, in Ano Gold.

These are Donkey's Years old!!
Old Wellington Window Handles, with EJMA keeps

And finally, some clips for a customer using overhead Block and Tackle Balances.
These convert the old type anchor to the new one, saving a lot of messing around.

Brass Thumbturns and Kawneer catch.

Another brass job - some thumbturns for 1940's/1950's slide stays.

This is one that I have been meaning to do for a long time.
This fitch catch was used on Kawneer sashes, the Alderley, I believe
and it engaged into what must be, the world's strongest fitch catch keep!
The keeps would never fail but the catches are now starting to show their
age, a little
So, using the same assembly details as another catch we do, this is the
next on the list.

I will come back next time, with details of the machined parts.

Break Glass Unit.

This is something a bit different!

I made this about 15 years ago, for a job that I believe was at
The London School of Music.

They were having Secondary Glazing fitted, for acoustic purposes
and didn't want the panels to ever be opened - only for cleaning
or in the event of a fire - hence the Break Glass feature.

The panel would be closed, the centre pin depressed and the safety
pin engaged.
The glass would then be slid in and secured with the fixings at the
ends and then the safety pin would be removed.

To open for cleaning - Safety pin in, remove one of the fixings, slide
out the glass, press on the head of the locking pin and release the safety
pin, the locking pin comes out.
In the event of fire - wallop the glass with the small hammer chained
close by and the pin comes flying out.
Instant release.

I used to use this as a Party Piece at Exhibitions.
Something a bit unusual!

greenteQ Viper Bi-Part

greenteQ Viper Bi-Part, well that's what it says in the catalogue!

Came across this image this morning, whilst looking for something else,
so as it's a while since I was here, thought I would post it up.

The one at the top is all that can be got now - the next one down is what they
needed to be, so with a little time and patience, this is the result.

Stainless Keeps and some Brass Work.

Another Stainless job and some Brass parts.

The keeps are copies of an older type, used with the
catch shown on a re-furb job.

The brass domes are Crittall Door Hinge Bearings and
the brass screws are part of 700 that were reduced in size
to 7mm long.
Concern about breaking the glass, I believe was the reason.

Stainless Steel Keeps.

For the last few days, it's been Stainless Steel week!

Everything I'm on at the moment, is in Stainless, so as it is some

make, drop me a line and I'll come back to you as soon as I can.

Crittall B50 parts.

Crittall not only made Steel Windows, they also made a lot
of aluminium ones, as well.
One of the most common ones was the B50 Series.

This is an original keep and a replacement part, machined from solid.

Below are a couple of shots of the Crittall Pivot, from the B50 range.
The original ones are now of an age that they are starting to fail, as the
core element was ferrous and has corroded.
The replica that we make has a Stainless Steel core, so should last the
lifetime of the window.

There is also a complex handle mechanism but to date, we have
not made any replacements.

I'm sure that time will come.

Grorud Pivot G 2450S

Quite often, someone will be looking for and item and stocks are
low or gone completely and on opening the catalogue, you see this.
Items marked Discontinued, Unavailable,Obsolete!

As some items are a unique shape or operate in a certain way, it is
often difficult to convert to something else, without a great deal of work.
So, the best thing to do, is to re-make it, which is what we do with many
things that are obsolete but are still in use, all over the country.
This is one of those items - Grorud Pivot.
We also know them as "CD" Pivots and these were used extensively
over many years.

I will do some more pivots next time.

More parts for Windows.

These are a few more images from projects done some years ago.

This one was for a very old window, with a rotational bar that turned
these hooks into looped keeps

This is what the Crittall B50 pivot looks like in a raw state, before painting.

Repro Gibbons Window handles, from a 70's 80's aluminium window.

Gibbons Pivot - a lot of these windows still around.

This was an interesting project - Door rollers off a huge sliding showroom door at a Sytner dealers.

And finally, for this time - Epag Handles, for timber windows.
This was a facinating project, for a HUGE new built house, in a valley that was shared by a property that John Paul Getty owned.
No expense was spared - these handles had to match older ones on other areas in the house, that had be found in France.

See anything you recognise as a part you may need, or you may have something similar, drop me a line.
