Metal Window Spanner, for Crittall Type Windows

Something simple but essential!

This was something I did this morning, to help someone out.

If you look at most Small Section steel windows, the bolt or
nut, is very close to the glass and trying to get a normal spanner
behind the bracket, is in most cases. . . . . almost impossible!

When I was "on the spanners", as the term goes - the way around
this problem, was to convert a flat type Bicycle Spanner.

This is this enough, at just under 4mm, to fit where you need it to
and with a little modification - dressing down the end and forming
a crank in the handle, it works a treat.

I may do a small production run of spanners for metal windows, as
it is something we keep getting asked about.
It may prevent a lot of frustration - the person I made this one for
had been looking around for ages and had tried all sorts if things to
tighten his handle up.

Result!

Pace - Caldwell 930 Reverse Position Catch.

This is another item that we inherited from Caldwell.

The was used on Fully Reversible pivot windows and as the
name suggests, it holds the light in a fixed position, when it
is reversed.

This is what one of the original Caldwell 930 catches look like and
below are the component parts and the finished item.

I have just been putting a batch together, so thought I would post it,
whilst I had got the job in hand.

If you would like to get in touch with me, about this product or anything
else you have seen, drop me a line and I will come back to you.

Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit.

A strange title for a feature about steel window fittings but keep
reading and it will make sense.

These are some older stock, of what are essentially "Utility" stays
and handles for small section steel windows frames.

The requirement was for six standard length and six very small
stays, for very narrow frames, going into small openings.

As you can see, this is the preparation for the standard stay
and a trial fit - nothing out of the ordinary.

The narrow frames presented a bit of a challenge, however and
it was time to get the saw out.

Cut and welded, they were then very carefully dressed
down to size and shape and then bead blasted.

When they were finished, they looked like this.

This shows them fitted to the frames, ready to go off
to site, to be fitted.

Something a bit different.
