Monarch Sliding Sash Keeps.

Monarch Windows C330 Vertical Sliding Sash Keep.

The very last of our Monarch keeps went out of the door a few
weeks ago and as there is nothing out there that is even close
to the C330, these are the new replacements.

Old Window Winding Handles.

Many years ago, a lot of high level windows were operated
by winding gear, with a deep cut ACME thread which ran
through a bevel gearbox.

After all of this time, most of the operating handles
have been lost, walked or borrowed on a permanent
basis - never to be seen again!
So, these are some I made recently, which enable the
gear to be used again.

Result!!

More bespoke window components next time.

Sash Window Poles.

Quite a few aluminium sliding sash windows, had a groove
on the top rail of the top sash.

You could put your fingers into the groove, if you could reach
it and pull or push the sash with it - mainly ending up with
broken nails!!

There were some that had a pull handle that would slot into
the groove, which made things a little easier, if. . .  you could
reach the thing!

So, the best solution is the other option - a pole.

The shape of this pole head means that it is kept within the
groove, no matter if you are pulling or pushing.

Much easier and it will save you a manicure!!!

Aluminium Door - Hinge Repair.

Never a dull moment!!

Someone turned up at the door with hinges he had already
taken off, hoping to find some on the same day, for a 25 to
30 year old door.

The right hand one shows what they both looked like
when they arrived - the left hand one shows a trial fit
for washers, after some work with basic hand tools.

Job done!
This should keep the thing going for a little longer.

Next. . . . . !

Parts for windows!

Parts for Windows - That's what we do!

So many years have passed by, that I'm starting to forget
some of the things that have been done in the past.

This is one of them!

Found in a bag, during the Christmas clearout (found loads
of other  stuff) and having stared at it for a while, decided
that I hadn't a clue what it was/did!

Here's to finding more odball stuff over the next few months!

Spiral balance foot back from the platers.

An update on the last post I put up - they are back from the platers.

It seems that the next one I will be doing is this one.

These were fitted to Kawneer Vertical Sliding Sashes, which are the same sashes that we make the Fitch Catch for.

Spiral Balance Brackets - Shoes - Feet

These are the components that a Spiral Sash Balance
engages into - known as Shoes, Feet or Brackets.

This is a custom job, to re-make the one you see in
the centre of the image.

This is a good example of what can be achieved when
making replica parts.
Off to the platers today - will take another shot when
they return.
