John Carr Pivot.

This was a very interesting project.

This is what we were given. 
John Carr Pivot Hinges.

This is what we made.

A tricky one, this but very pleased with the result. 

The very first pivot we made was for a Gibbons window, which
was many years ago.
Since then we have done Crittall B50, some ancient Arthur Shaw
Pivots, which looked a little like these do and several others.

Always a challenge but very rewarding.

I'll put some other images up, on the next post, just showing
some of the pivots that we have done.

Window Handle Patch Plates.

Another recent job.

The fixings into PVCu frames, were pulling out, so these patch plates
were made, so that new and remote fixing holes could be made.

Sobinco, Turner Fain

I came across these, the other day.
A job that goes back two or three years ago.

 

 This was a bit of a challenge!

These are from Turner Fain Windows and are unique to their system.
The original parts were failing and there was nothing else that would fit.
The frames and glazing were all in good order, so it was decided by our
client that the only course of action, was to re-make the part.

They could have been made of brass but I decided that Stainless Steel
would be the material, on this occasion.
I think if I had to do them again, I would go for brass!!!

Kilian Roller Wheels.

Kilian Rollers were made in Canada and used on older patio doors.

Over time, wear and tear takes its toll and the panel slowly starts
to drop lower and lower.

These are replacements, that are made to fit in the same way as
the originals and will then give the door a new lease of life.

Sash window poles and Packers.

A couple of slightly different jobs, for this post.

The first one is a replica window pole job.
These were made for a range of aluminium vertical sliding sashes,
which had a socket in the top sash, in order to operate it with a
pole, therefore saving the need of a handy chair!!!

The ball pushed into the socket, allowing it to push up and down,
without jumping out of the socket and then the sash was in the 
desired position, it was gently extracted, allowing the ball to come
out of the socket.

The other recent job was a simple packer - nothing more and
nothing less.

Flystays for W40 Part II

This development is around 7 miles west of Boston, MA USA and 
had Steel Windows throughout the site.
These were fabricated in the UK and shipped out in containers.

Our part of the job was to provide the Flystays, which went through 
the section, allowing the light to be opened, with a fully fitted screen,
installed on the inner face of the frame.

We made over 700 of them, over a period of time and towards the 
end of the installation, went over to site, to see the end user and take
some shots of the windows.
We arrived on site, having driven up from Washington, in a beautiful
Chrysler 300 - to be greeted by the developers, who were very pleased
to see us and took us all around the site.

The images show the frames installed, prior to the screens being fitted.

A great job, that was very interesting to do and unlike most of the 
things I make, I got to see them fitted, on site.
Result!

W40 Flystays, for a development in Boston, MA - USA.

I did this one quite a few years ago but as I have recently found some of
the images of them fitted on site, I thought I would show you the very
first ones, fitted on the frames, just to make sure the all was OK.

Shown as Closed, Half Open and Fully Open.


This shot was taken just before they were all crated up for shipping to the USA.

Next time, I will post up the shots of them on site.
